Bale right now doesn't fit many clubs profile for signing a player.

Reckless spending for the sake of it seems to be over for all clubs even the likes of PSG.

I don't think Bale to Bayern is too likely; it's not the kind of move they tend to make. Age, injuries, wages, etc - it just doesn't look like a particularly good deal for any club at the moment. Even if they get him out the door, you'd imagine Real will be covering part of those wages for years yet.

Bayern moved quickly to bolster the defence at the start of the summer but haven't done much since - I wonder will David Alaba end up as a winger/midfield option for them next season, as he is for Austria?

They have Lucas Hernandez, who can play CB and LB, now, so it might give them the option of using Alaba further up the pitch. Kimmich, Pavard, Sule and Hernandez as a back 4 maybe?

They were linked to Leroy Sane earlier in the summer too - he'd make more sense than Bale. A huge wedge of cash but as a German international and potentially world class talent, he could epitomise everything that Bayern want to be for the coming decade.

And apparently, and this is unconfirmed, Bruce will be handed a £90 million transfer kitty
Could be true!

Newcastle United have signed striker Joelinton from Hoffenheim for a club record £40m fee on a six-year deal.

The 22-year-old Brazilian is Steve Bruce's first signing since he was named the club's new head coach on Wednesday, replacing Rafael Benitez.

Joelinton scored 11 goals in 35 games for Hoffenheim last season, with seven of those coming in the Bundesliga.

Bale's quality isn't in doubt. It's his injuries and wages. If you can get Real to subsidise them then he is well worth the risk IMO for any team.
or a team from China (report in newspaper today saying a Chinese team had offered him £1m a WEEK!!)
If he's having so much trouble with Spanish, imagine him trying to get his noodle around Mandarin?

Newcastle has signed a striker I've never heard of for £40 million!! Anyone know if he's any good? 11 goals in 35 games isn't a bad return for a young player but for £40 million?

He was very good against Man City in the Champions League.

He plays on the left a bit as well so not an out and out striker. Very powerful and likes to dribble. Very good work rate as well. I only saw him 3 times though so can't say if he's worth the money or not..

Joelinton looked great in the first half of the season, his performance dipped somewhat in the second half. I think he would have ideally had another season in the Bundesliga under his belt before making this move.

He has all the right attributes for the Premier League; he's strong and works hard. If you were looking for a Rondon replacement he fits the bill pretty well. What concerns me is he's going to a club with a cloud over its head and he'll need to hit the ground running right away. There will be added pressure with the price tag too. He may need time to find his feet.

So far in the PL, Liverpool and Crystal Palace are the only 2 teams yet to spend any money for any senior players. Palace signed a reserve keeper on a free alright, and Liverpool have signed an underage defender.

Mad that that is possible, especially so close to the season starting and the fact that Chelsea has a transfer ban yet still were able to buy Kovacic.

A few inter-Premier League transfers such as Maguire and the eventual Crystal Palace RB replacement will change this table a good bit.

All figures below are net spend

Aston Villa £100m
Leicester £77m
Man City £71m
Man Utd £65m
Wolves £43m
Spurs £38m
Southampton £30m
West Ham £29m
Sheffield United £22m
Brighton £22m
Everton £17m
Bournemouth £14m
Newcastle £8m
Burnley £6m
Watford £5m
Arsenal £3m
Norwich £2m
Liverpool -£20m
Crystal Palace -£50m
Chelsea -£67m

Everton seems serious bidders for Zaha prepared to go to £70m apparently. Spending a lot over the last few windows but not really getting the required results.
